MONTGOMERY COUNTY -- White vans will be traveling the streets throughout Montgomery County over the next several weeks taking photos of all homes and businesses.
The efforts are part of a project to update property information for the county Auditor's Office.
The photos are expected to:
⢠Improve the overall quality of the county's real estate data
⢠Save taxpayers money by making the property tax administration process more efficient
⢠Assist homeowners and businesses with "before" photos in case of loss.
⢠Enhance emergency management recovery reports necessary for state and federal assistance.
⢠Validate property addresses to identify homes for fire, police and medical emergency response.
Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith said the county has contracted with Tyler Technologies of Dayton to digitally photograph the exterior of every property in the county and validate the exterior data as the first phase of the mandated 2014 Revaluation.
Photographing will continue for six to seven weeks, depending on weather.
Keith said the personnel taking the photos will be issued photo identification. The vehicles being used will be white 2011 Ford E-150 passenger vans.
The auditor said the workers are deputized to access driveways or private lanes only when necessary to obtain and obstructed image from the van.
