BUTLER CO.--The Butler County sheriff's office temporarily suspended the use of stop sticks after the death of Warren County Sergeant, Brian Dulle.
Sgt Dulle was setting up stop sticks on State Route 42 when he was struck and killed by Marcus Israel who was running from police.
After an internal study on their use, the sheriff's office deemed stop sticks were less dangerous than chasing a suspect. They began using them again after about 60 days.
"Is it dangerous? Everything we do is dangerous, but we feel the stop sticks are good for us and we continue to use them to this day," said Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones.
The sheriff's office says it re-emphasizes stop stick training and that officer's safety is always the first priority over stopping the suspect.
