DAYTON--A Dayton woman falls asleep and her child accidentally sets their apartment on fire.
It happened at a four-unit building on Catalpa Drive.
Police say the child apparently knocked over incense that was burning near a sofa where the mother was sleeping.
She woke up shortly after when her blanket caught fire. No one was injured, but fire crews say it could have been much worse.
"There were no working smoke detectors...If she had been more sound asleep or had the child been sleeping this could've been really tragic," said Dayton District Fire Chief Joe Meyer
The fire was contained to just one unit. Damages are estimated at $14,000.
