VANDALIA -- Murlin Heights Elementary School Principal Connie Strehle smooched "Murlinette" the pig, but it wasn't just for hogs an kisses.
The pig kiss was an incentive for a very important cause: if students met their reading goals, Strehle would kiss a pig. The kids met their goals and Strehle good-naturedly puckered up while students and parents chanted "Kiss the Pig!"
The kiss was part of the school's annual Family Read-In Night, an event that celebrates the joy of books by inviting students and their parents to enjoy an evening of reading with the school's teachers.
