COLUMBUS -- The Buckeye Firearms Association began its free gun training for teachers over the weekend.  The classes were born after the Sandy Hook School massacre last December.

Teachers took part in classroom lectures over the weekend, and next week they will do hands-on weapons instruction.

Instructors were trying to explain to educators what may be going on in a potential killer's head.

The Buckeye Firearms Association says this training isn't for everyone.

"There's nothing wrong with the teacher or administrator who says I want to do something to protect our kids," said Jim Irvine, from the Buckeye Firearms Association. "There's nothing wrong with the teacher who says no that's not what I signed up for."

More than 1,300 Ohio teachers and school employees signed up for the training.  The cost for educating all of those folks could top $1.2 million.
