DAYTON--Life Connection of Ohio gathered city leaders, donor families, and transplant recipients at Fifth Third Field to celebrate National Donate Life Day.
Widow Wendy Nikolai described how her husband's death after a brain hemorrhage, turned a family tragedy into something positive.
"He was always such a warm and giving person and in death, he's given so much more than he ever thought he could," said Wendy Nikolai.
His organs went to three people needing transplants; people like 8-year old Tater. He had three transplants back in 2010.
Now Tater attends Dayton Public Schools, loves sports, and he's grateful to people who gave the gift of life.
