DAYTON--Two Dayton siblings were recognized Tuesday at the Montgomery County Commission meeting for reporting illegal dumping.
"Illegal dumping is really is a big problem. I get complaints daily." Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy Victoria Dingee said.
She investigates dumping complaints and praises Justin and Crystal Western. The siblings witnessed a pick up truck dumping more than 100 tires on Linda Vista Avenue. They snapped pictures and reported it.
"Their help was crucial part of prosecution." Dingee said.
Dingee said the dumper, Orande Clark, got a hefty fine, 5 years probation and many hours of community service.
The Western siblings were recognized and given an award for reporting the dumping at Tuesday's county commission meeting.
"Dumping trash is just unnecessary." Crystal Western said. "Just like you don't want trash in your house, you don't want trash around your home either." she added.
On Monday, another dumping complaint was filed on Wroe Avenue.
There is a huge pile of trash, including debris, furniture, even an old toilet in the alley behind Howard Murray's home.
"Every other day, someone is dumping trash back there." Murray said. Murray said not only does it look bad, he's worried about
health concerns and breeding mosquitoes.
"It brings rodents. Its just horrible." Murray said.
Anyone with information about illegal dumping can call (937) 225-HELP to report it.
