DAYTON -- The sentencing of a doctor whose 14-year-old patient died weighing only 28 pounds has been delayed.
Margaret Edwards, 51, is now scheduled to be sentenced May 29 at 9 a.m. She was found guilty of failing to report child abuse or neglect.
Edwards could also lose her medical license.
The victim's mother, Angela Norman, previously pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter as well as two counts of child endangering. She was sentenced to nine years in prison.
Makayla's nurse, Mollie Parsons pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, failing to provide for a functionally impaired person, and tampering with records. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Two other nurses were also charged, Kathryn Williams and Mary Kilby. They were both convicted of failing to provide a functionally impaired person and were each given five years of community control sanctions. All of the nurses had to surrender their nursing licenses and can never treat patients again.
