BARDSTOWN, Ky. -- The wife of a slain Kentucky police officer spoke out Tuesday night for the first time since her husband's death.

"God has picked me up off the bathroom floor.  I didn't want to live another second without him."

Bardstown officer Jason Ellis was a Cincinnati native shot and killed while driving home from work Saturday.

Police say he was ambushed.

"He was a dedicated family man.  He loved our family.  He loved our boys. He loved me. He was dedicated to his job. He loved his job, he loved the people that he worked with."

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Kentucky Police Officer Shot, Killed

BARDSTOWN, Ky. -- A police officer was ambushed and murdered over the weekend.

Kentucky State Police say Officer Jason Ellis, from Cincinnati, was driving home from work in Bardstown early Saturday morning when he stopped on an exit ramp to clear debris. As he got out of his car, someone overhead opened fire.

"Officer Ellis never fired a shot from his service weapon," Norman Chaffins of the Kentucky State Police said. "It was still holstered. We believe this is a premeditated murder. However, we are not certain if Officer Ellis was the target."

Visitation for Ellis will be held on Wednesday at the Parkway Baptist Church in Bardstown.

Ellis' funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m.
