COLUMBUS--The Buckeye Firearm Foundation is planning to host a program that will provide weapons training to teachers right here in Ohio.
The program would teach how to handle weapons in the case of an emergency.
In the two weeks since they announced the program, they have already received close to a thousand applications.
Some parents, however, aren't so sure about putting more guns in schools.
"Do you really want your schools to look like prisons? Do you want your schools to have boarded windows and armed guards at every door? Do you want your teacher wielding guns?" said mother Lisa Cicia.
The Buckeye Firearms Foundation says that several other states, including Florida, Texas and California have all sent in applications to host similar training programs.
