DAYTON -- The Feast of Giving is an annual celebration in the city of Dayton.
But it couldn't go on without the volunteers and community coming out to support the celebration.
"It was so much fun the first time," said Julie Danna, volunteering for the second time, "The first time I can still remember some of the different faces that I met"
This year nearly 500 volunteers fed close to 6,000 people.
"It makes me feel like I'm really part of the community," she said. "You hear the word community all the time, well, I feel it right now."
And those who came out to eat felt it as well.
"You come down here and you associate and you make friends with the people and you get down to Earth and if you can help somebody you help them and if somebody can help you they help you, that's what Thanksgiving is all about," said Charlie Hammond, who came down to the Feast of Giving with his family.
Also in the holiday spirit was the University of Dayton basketball team.
They volunteered their time serving and on the dance floor.
And if you're thinking of volunteering your time next year, those who already have, say it's worth it.
"It's just nice to be a part of the Dayton community and be down here to talk to all the different people, be able to wish them a happy Thanksgiving and really feel connected with the Dayton area." said Danna.
