FAIRBORN -- Fairborn City Schools officials announced today it is closing one of the entrances to Baker Middle School to improve school security.
The school was recently targeted by student threats, which prompted added security measures. One student has been identified in those incidents and is facing disciplinary measures.
Beginning Wednesday, school officials say the Main Entrance to the school will no longer be open during the school day. The only entrance to the school now will be the East Wing Entrance.
Parents are asked to keep this in mind when dropping off children, especially when they are tardy or picking up or returning from doctor's appointments.
"We are pleased with several of the plans that are beginning to move forward, but like all facilities modifications, there are costs involved and some of the "brick-and-morter" items will need to be done when the students are out of school," a school statement reads. "In short, with projected deficits for our district, we may need to look at creative ways to fund these safety and security initiatives, especially if our financial situation does not improve in the near future."
