DAYTON -- Due to the anticipated weather tonight's Division IV High School Boys Basketball District Finals scheduled to be played at UD Arena have been postponed.
The games will now be played tomorrow night, Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Trent Arena located at Kettering Fairmont High School.
Game times will remain the same.
Before making the decision to postpone the games, Rob Durkle, the manager of the Southwest District Athetic Board Tournament was in contact with the National Weather Service, SWDAB, participating high school administrators and the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.
"We've been thinking about that as early as this morning,'' Durkle told us, ''what happens if this storm lasts longer, what will happen if the roads will still be impassible tomorrow, but we'll make that decision hopefully by noon tomorrow, so if the weather improves we should be able to play at Trent if it remains treacherous our first and foremost interest is making sure fans have a safe passage way to the game, that will be our first priority"
The predicted snow totals increased since the 6:30 AM communication with the National Weather Service. SWDAB officials called the decision a difficult one to make, but one that where the safety, of everyone, was the primary concern.
Tournament officials say if the games do on tomorrow at Trent Arena, they are expecting a large crowd, so they are asking folks to get there early since Trent Arena does not hold as many people as UD Arena. There is a difference in the venues of about 7,000 seats.
