Man Killed in Afghan Attack Remembered Friday

EATON -- A local law enforcement officer killed last week in Afghanistan will be remembered Friday.

Hearts were broken when they learned Kurt Muncy was killed in a bombing attack. He was a deputy for the Preble County Sheriff's Office. Those who knew him say he was passionate about protecting the public.

Muncy was in Afghanistan working as a private contractor helping to train Afghani police officers. On July 2, he was killed in a bomb attack.

Muncy grew up in Eaton. He started his career working for the police department. He went from an EMS to a dispatcher before becoming a deputy. Loved ones say he did a lot to help others and will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held Friday at the Eden Church of the Brethren on Camden Road. Services begin at 7 p.m., but the family will start gathering at 4 p.m.

Muncy will be laid to rest Saturday at 11 a.m. Friends can pay their respects starting a 9 a.m. until the funeral begins.
