Community Mourns Loss of 5 Year Old

HAMILTON -- A local medic is mourning the loss of his 5-year-old son.

"Firefighter Close Calls - Home of The Secret List" posted the following message on their Facebook page Monday:

"It is with deep regret that I must inform you of a tragedy within the Hamilton Township Fire/ Rescue family. On the morning of July 15, 2013, Firefighter Matt Shelton's 5-year-old son, already stricken with cerebral palsy, died in a tragic accident at home. Adding to the tragedy, Matt is to be sworn in as a full-time employee two days from now. The Shelton family is without health insurance.

A fund has been established for the family to help with all needs. Donations can be made at any 5/3 Bank to the IAFF 4055 fund for the benefit of the Shelton Family (or mailed below). The bank has started the fund with a generous donation of their own. We thank you for any support you can provide and ask that you keep the Shelton family in your thoughts and prayers."
