DAYTON -- Numerous complaints from neighbors led agents from the Humane Society to a house in "deplorable" condition this morning.

The resident says she's an animal lover whose affections got out of control after accumulating more than 30 cats.

Now, the Humane Society of Greater Dayton has removed those cats from the home at 804 Steele Avenue in Dayton. The house has been condemned and the resident said she's been given until Monday to vacate the premises.

The cats will be checked by a veterinarian and then placed for adoption. Many of the animals were reportedly sick and hadn't been properly cared for.

Sheila Marquis, a humane agent for the Society, said the smell of urine and feces in the house was overwhelming. She also said there wasn't enough food or water available for that many cats.

Reporter Chelby Kosto spoke to the woman who was living with all those cats and she will have much more from her and the complete story tonight on ABC 22 and FOX 45.
