PIQUA -- Sen. Sherrod Brown on Friday announced that Piqua Fire Department will receive federal funding for operations and safety by the U.S. Department of Homeland Securityâs (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program.
âOur first responders put their lives on the line every day across Ohio,â said Brown. âThese funds ensure that firefighters in Piqua have the resources they need to perform their jobs safely.â
This is round seven of the competitive Fiscal Year 2012 AFG announcements. The Piqua Fire Department was awarded $58,146.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program helps firefighters and other first responders purchase protective equipment, vehicles, and gear, according to FEMA.
